10 tips for a cosy Christmas night in

Relish the fact that everything is now (almost!) done and relax. Revel in calming Christmas activities.

The winter solstice is the perfect excuse for a cosy night in.

Play uplifting Christmas music (I love listening to Kings Choir singing carols).

Take a bath sprinkled with deliciously scented bath oils or essential oil.

Wear your snuggliest jumper (or even pjs if you prefer!)

Light candles and/or the fire to create a really cosy atmosphere.

Purchase a television listings magazine and highlight everything you want to watch over the festive period (an annual ritual!)

Pour your favourite festive drink. If like me you often only have certain drinks at Christmas, this is a real treat – Baileys over ice maybe or lace hot chocolate with a dash of liqueur.

Cook something easy to snack on. This hot dip is absolutely delicious! Hot Cheddar Rarebit Dip

Choose a relaxing activity – do a jigsaw puzzle, read an uplifting book or play cards, chess or Scrabble.

Browse photograph albums; maybe pictures from the year gone by, or family photos from many years ago. Or watch home videos.

One of my friends shoots a new video every Christmas, and on Christmas Eve the family snuggle up and watch the videos from Christmases past.

Or simply watch the flames of the fire flickering and reflect on the good times from the past year.
