Spring is nature’s time for new life and new beginnings.
The signs are all around us. The daffodils are blooming, buds are appearing, the days are getting longer and the sun stronger. Spring is on its way!
We humans can feel the benefits too – as the increased light begins to affect the brain and with less of the melatonin hormone affecting our sleep-wake cycle, we can get a light “spring” in our step, we become more alert, and experience increased feelings of happiness.
The fresh air, scents and visual displays of spring start to feel good as we emerge from winter.
In the Northern hemisphere, spring officially begins on March 20th – the spring or vernal equinox; the day when the sun is exactly above the equator and day and night are almost exactly the same length. This is known as the astronomical start of spring and the date that you will see in diaries and on calendars – including The Dairy Diary of course!
