Alternative Ideas for Bonfire Night

Bonfire Night recipes

Remember, Remember 5th November!

Bonfire Night can be so fun with the sight and sounds of fireworks shooting in the air!

However, some, including my daughter (and most pets), are not fans of this time of year. She is not keen on standing in the cold, is scared by big bonfires and hates the loud firework noises. So here are some alternative (quieter) ideas of how to still join in with the Bonfire Night fun.

If you are not heading to an organised display or want to have a low-key 5th November – here are some alternative ideas!

View from afar!

If there is somewhere up high near to you with a good view, drive there and watch the fireworks from afar to avoid the noise. You could even stay warm in the car if there is a view from the car park with some music on to accompany the display! If not, wrap up and take a flask of this Winter Warmer or Real Hot Chocolate with you to the view point to keep you toasty!

This non-alcoholic drink will warm you from the inside with its mix of fruits and cinnamon.

Treat yourself to this indulgent drink. Add a large pinch of mixed spice and ½ tsp of cinnamon for an extra warming, spicy twist!

Pretty Fairy Lights

It’s a bit early for Christmas decorations but as bonfire night is about light and colour, consider decorating your garden with pretty fairy lights. You could even leave them up for Christmas time (one job off the list)! Or, if you have one, an LED projector can throw lights all around your house or garden.

Sparkle!

Have a scaled down bonfire night with long sparklers – it’s always fun to write your name into the night sky! Obviously, supervise young children and dispose of the sparklers safely.

Make a mini “Guy”

Make a guy or scarecrow to display – this will keep the original spirit of bonfire night alive without the noise.

Bonfire night treats!

Of course it is great fun to create some tasty treats to eat whether you are a bonfire night fan or not!
