Choosing a colour palette

Colour palette inspiration

When choosing colours for your home, the first rule is to choose something you love.

It doesn’t matter what’s on-trend or what others suggest, it should be a colour scheme that resonates with you.

If you are decorating a small space, lighter colours work better, but larger rooms, with plenty of light, can take darker colours. Or choose a darker colour for just one wall to act as a focal point e.g. behind a bed or fireplace.

For inspiration, look at images that appeal to you.
Pinterest is a great place to start.

Search colour palettes, and an array of pictures with the colour selection will appear.

Choose one of these colours for the walls and then use two or three of the others as accent colours for skirting boards, furniture and with pictures, ornaments and cushions.

You can create your own board on Pinterest; adding images of your furniture or accessories alongside the colour palette image to see how the room will work as a whole.
