The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning is Macmillan’s biggest fundraising event, bringing people from across the UK together to raise money for people living with cancer.
Why not give it a go yourself this year and help fundraise for a great cause? It’s super easy to sign up via the Macmillan website, so get baking! For some help getting started, we’ve got some tips for how to host a sale and we’ve gathered together some of our best recipes that would be perfect for a coffee morning.
Since 1990, Macmillan’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning has raised over £310 million!
How to host a bake sale
Whether you decide to host at home, work, school or in the community, Macmillan has specific tips to help with hosting which you can check out here. Check below for our top tips and steps for how to organise and host your coffee morning!
1. Sign up as a host
You’ll first need to sign up on the Macmillan website in order to receive your fundraising kit. Just choose a date (this can be changed later on) and whether you’ll be hosting from home, school, work or with a local community group. Sign up here!
2. Plan your event and share it
Once you’ve registered, your online fundraising page will be set up, which can be personalised with a photo, a fundraising target and a description of why you are hosting. You can then share this page online or via Macmillan to let people know you’re hosting and if they can’t attend, where to donate.
To plan your event, think about who is able to lend their time to help out at the Coffee Morning, as well as what you will sell to raise money (keep reading for some great recipes for delicious bakes that will get donations flowing!)
3. Get creative and do it in your own way!
Go traditional and serve tea and cakes, or put a spin on your Coffee Morning and do something different! How about a themed bake sale like 80s disco, or host in the evening and do cocktails instead? The choice is yours – get brainstorming!
4. The day of…
Decorate your space and get ready to enjoy! Ask people to donate with cash or via your fundraising page, and remember that every penny you raise goes towards aiding Macmillan in helping people living with cancer.
5. Donate the money raised and celebrate
Pay in your donations online via the Macmillan website, or at the bank, post office, via phone or post – click here for more information. Now celebrate! You’ve helped contribute to a great cause and Macmillan will send a thank you certificate to show how much you’ve raised and how it will help people living with cancer.
