The Coronation of King Charles III will take place on May 6th 2023.

To honour this historic event there will be a weekend full of celebrations and an extra bank holiday on Monday 8th May.

We have the perfect craft idea from the lovely people at Simply Ribbons to decorate your home so it is fit for a King – the Coronation Ribbon Wreath Kit!

It may be too late now to get a kit in time for the Coronation weekend but Simply Ribbons have many different colours and styles – one for every season or colour scheme! You can order one here and if you use discount code DD23 you will receive an extra 15% off too.

The kit comes with everything that you need to make this stunning ribbon wreath including full instructions, frame, ribbons and a crown plaque. The wreath is very easy to make and takes around two hours. The only additional item needed is a sharp pair of scissors.

Step 1

Take each length of ribbon and using a sharp pair of scissors, cut into approximately 15cm long pieces.

Step 2

Tie each piece of ribbon to the frame alternating colours as frequently as you wish. When using the thinner, sheer / lace style ribbons it is possible to tie each into a loose knot. The thicker satin pieces can simply be tied just once in a “cross over and under” single tie action, pulling each end to tighten.

Step 3

Slide the tied ribbons along the wire to butt up snugly against each other, and continue tying new pieces of ribbon until each section has been suitably filled. Add the purple Coronation themed bow.

Step 4

Once you have completed tying the ribbon to the frame, it is at this stage that you can add the plaque by securing through the wire frame.

Tie the hanging ribbon to the top of the wire frame and knot at the top, creating a loop which will allow you to hang up your completed project!
